propitiation

Bro, I need your help on this. You mentioned the Ark and propitiation and Romans 3 in your message last Friday. But why would we need propitiation or atonement or covering or forgiveness, if we are justified? The circumcision (and proselytes) needs propitiation. John talks about it in 1 John 2:2. And isn’t that the Luke 24:47 “repentance and pardon of sins“ commission?

——
ROMAN 5: 7 For hardly for the sake of a just man will anyone be dying: for, for the sake of a good man, perhaps someone may even be daring to die,
8 yet God is commending this love of His to us, seeing that, while we are still sinners, Christ died for our sakes.
COLOSSIANS 1:
13 Who rescues us out of the jurisdiction of Darkness, and transports us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
14 in Whom we are having the deliverance, the pardon of sins,
15 Who is the Image of the invisible God, Firstborn of every creature,
16 for in Him is all created, that in the heavens and that on the earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones, or lordships, or sovereignties, or authorities, all is created through Him and for Him,
17 and He is before all, and all has its cohesion in Him.
18 And He is the Head of the body, the ecclesia, Who is Sovereign, Firstborn from among the dead, that in all He may be becoming first,
19 for in Him the entire complement delights to dwell,
20 and through Him to reconcile all to Him (making peace through the blood of His cross), through Him, whether those on the earth or those in the heavens.

Paul talks about propitiation in Romans 3, but the Concordant version puts that section in parentheses. Paul was talking about the Jews and the Nations in Romans chapters 1 thru 3. The parentheses section (v 25) is concerning penalties that were passed over, and so they (Jews) needed propitiation. It is not speaking of us. Right?

Why would we need a propitiation in the evangel of the uncircumcision? Doesn’t propitiation fall in line with repentance and pardon? If I am perfect by the righteousness of God and justified, why would I need a propitiation?

Notice again how Romans 3:25 talks about the passing over of the penalties of sin. This is referring to the Jews. That’s why I think the Concordant version puts verse 25 in parentheses. That is who is in view when Paul uses the word propitiation right there. And this is why John also says “propitiation“ in 1 Jn 2:2.

Paul says we are “justified in his blood,“ in Romans five. So through his evangel we get justification by the blood. In the circumcision evangel they get pardon or propitiation by the blood.

Let me know what you think of these things.

Rom 3:24-26——-

24 Being justified gratuitously in His grace, through the deliverance which is in Christ Jesus
25 (Whom God purposed for a Propitiatory shelter, through faith in His blood, for a display of His righteousness because of the passing over of the penalties of sins which occurred before in the forbearance of God),
26 toward the display of His righteousness in the current era, for Him to be just and a Justifier of the one who is of the faith of Jesus.

I John 2——
2 And He is the propitiatory shelter concerned with our sins, yet not concerned with ours only, but concerned with the whole world also.
